Wed 28th Feb was the first of our competitions this year – Round 1 (of 4) of our Regular, Open Subject Competition. As well as marking the club’s move to 1600x1200px DPIs and max 50x40cm prints for all competitions it also had the most entries for many a year – a whopping 44 DPIs and 18 prints. Our judge for the evening, Chris Boyes, had a difficult job both in terms of the number of images and also, due to the fact that our competitions are open subject, because, in his own words, he was having to judge apples against pears! Anyway, a good night was had by all. The winners on the night were Andy and Rob for their images Leighton – Chainsaw Carver and Red Kite respectively. This turned out to be quite a poignant result because only a couple of weeks after the competition, following a short illness, Leighton the chainsaw carver tragically passed away.
