Yes I know it was Independence Day over in the USA – and best wishes from our little club. I always think back then in 1776, over here in the UK the feeling was ‘look, do we really need more trees?’
The club went out amongst the trees….and the swans and the deer, during the evening. The day had been typical of the recent heat wave and anticipation of a good sun-set was high. But as soon as we stepped into the park the old currant-bun was covered by a stubborn cloud that remained for the rest of the evening! This did not dampen our spirits but looking into the future we did not have a club night on the 11th July. The general mood was to watch England beat Croatia. Alas this was not to be.
